How many types of domain name?
There are two highest level of domain name: national and international domain
name.
International domain name is under .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz
National domain name is under the nation letters in abbreviated form. These
marks are stipulated by ICANN for example, Vietnam is tagged with VN, Australia
is AU and France is FR and so on.
Up to now there are over 200 different national domain names and under each has
the second or the third level of DNS (ex: COM.VN, EDU.VN, etc)

What is the difference between dot-com, dot-net and dot-org domain names?
There is no rule on giving international domain names, but in common practice we
consider:
+ Dot-com domain names are used with trade organizations or businesses
+ Dot-net domain names are used with companies which provide internet services
+ Dot-org domain names are used with official organizations or non-profits
organizations
3. Who can register DNS?
There are certain regulations toward national domain names. As for international
domain names, there is no limits on registration subjects. It means that all
organizations or individuals from any areas over the world are able to own one
or more international domain names.
4. Who possesses domain names?
The registrants have the whole right possessing their registered domain names.
5. Who administers DNS?
International and the country code top-level domain names are under the control
of ICANN.
Lower level of national domain names are under the control of the country DNS
administration department, for instance in Vietnam it is VNNIC.
6. How much will it cost for each
register?
For particular countries there is a certain rule on registration fee applied for
national domain names.
As to international DNS, the registration fee depends on registrars. For
example, the charge for domain name registration at Enom Inc and Directi is the
lowest by $9.5 per year versus $35 per year at
www.register.com or $29 per year at
www.networksolution.com ( or even Enom
Inc) if you buy one yourself.
7. How long will the validity last?
A registered domain name can be last from 1 to 10 years. After the validity time
as registered, you need to reapply for this.
8. When is a registered DN possible
for use?
It depends on your registrar. In generally a domain name needs over 24 to 48
hours to be activated.
9. Can I make personal website right
after registered?
The answer is no. After having your domain name registered, you need a space on
the server for the website content via web hosting service. In there, your web
pages will be located in a host or data center providing internet connectivity
and when a user type a website address the hosts promptly give a list of
previous web pages.

10. Can I register domain name
without web hosting service?
It is absolutely acceptable for you to register domain name only. You need web
hosting when your website is already finished and participated to the
world-wide-web.

11. What is the difference between
